Georgetown, Kentucky Family Photographer | Historic Homestead Session | Voodoo Imagery

With a soft blanket of clouds overhead, a gentle breeze cutting through the November air, and chilly temperatures setting the pace, we set out to document a family session on a historic homestead in Georgetown. What unfolded was a small adventure rooted in the everyday rhythms of farm life.

The kids were bursting with excitement, eager to show me everything—the swings that carried their laughter across the yard, the chickens and sheep waiting for their daily visit, curious cats weaving through our legs, dogs trotting alongside us, and horses grazing just beyond the fence line. Even with cold noses and wind-tangled hair, they showed up with full effort—big grins, fearless runs through open fields, and a kind of enthusiasm that only exists in childhood.

Sessions like these are the quiet ones. The meaningful ones. The kind that doesn’t feel monumental in the moment, yet becomes priceless with time. They capture days that are easy to overlook—the routines, the animals, the simple joy of being outside together—long before you realize how fleeting they truly are.

This homestead tells a story of its own. From renovating a starter home at the beginning of their marriage, to welcoming two beautiful children, to now settling into this historic farmstead, the Smith family has built a life layered with intention, patience, and love. This season—this right now—deserves to be paused, honored, and remembered.

Allowing space to slow down and document all that has been built is a gift, and it’s a privilege to be the artist entrusted with preserving it. Not the perfection, but the presence. Not the posed moments, but the honest ones—muddy boots, cold hands, wind in your hair and all. -- Because the ordinary deserves to be remembered.

If you’re longing for a family session that feels more like an adventure than an appointment—one that meets you exactly where you are and honors the life you’ve created—I’d love to help tell your story.
